Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP), Department of Agriculture (DoA) is implementg Andhra Pradesh ‘Zero-Budget’ Natural Farmg (APZBNF) Programme, through Rythu Sadhikara Samstha (RySS) (corporation for farmers’ empowerment). RySS is a not-for-profit organization established by GoAP. The programme has been itiated 2015-16 with multiple objectives of enhancg farmers’ welfare, consumer welfare and for the conservation of the environment.

Zero-Budget Natural Farmg (ZBNF) is a holistic alternative to the present paradigm of high-cost chemical puts-based agriculture. It is very effective addressg the uncertaties of climate change. ZBNF prciples are harmony with the prciples of Agroecology. Its uniqueness is that it is based on the latest scientific discoveries Agriculture, and, at the same time it is rooted dian tradition. UN-FAO April 2018 urged all countries to move towards the adoption of Agroecology to meet the tw goals of global food security and conservation of the environment.

About RySS

Rythu Sadhikara Samstha (RySS), a not-for-profit company fully-owned by Government of Andhra Pradesh has pioneered Zero Budget Natural Farmg the state of Andhra Pradesh. The aim is to reach universalization of Natural Farmg practices by reachg 6 million farmers and convertg 8 million hectares to natural farmg fields.

About ZBNF

Zero Budget Natural Farmg (ZBNF) is a farmg practice that believes natural growth of crops without addg any fertilizers and pesticides or any other foriegn elements. The word Zero Budget refers to the zero net cost of production of all crops (ter crops, border crops, multi crops). The puts used for seed treatments and other ocluations are locally available the form of cowdung and cow ure.

A ZBNF practicisng farmer has lower cost of puts and thus has better capacity to crease the comes. At the same time, ZBNF crops helps retag soil fertilitg and is climate change resilient.

Four Wheels of ZBNF

The father of ZBNF and Padma Shri Awardee, Sh. Subash Palekar has provided four important non-negotiable guideles: Bijamrita (Seed Treatment usg local cowdung and cow ure), Jiwamrita (applyg oculation made of local cowdung and cow ure without any fertilizers and pesticides), Mulchg (activities to ensure favorable microclimate the soil), and Waaphasa (soil aeration).

AP ZBNF is workg towards promotg these guideles to farmers and ensure a chemical-free agriculture at lowest/zero-cost to farmers and thereby enhance their comes.
